UNC School of Arts Graduate Awarded for Play | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
A University of North Carolina School of the Arts graduate recently received an award for his lighting design of The Diary of Anne Frank.
Travis McHale was honored by the Connecticut Critics Circle, according to school officials. The play debuted last fall at Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, Conn.
The production received four nominations, including Best Play, Best Set Design, and Best Director for Gerald Freedman, in addition to McHale's lighting award.
The play is about a young Jewish girl and her family and friends who are forced into hiding in an attic in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam during WWII.
McHale received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2005 from UNCSA’s School of Design and Production.
