WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A lane of Highway 52 south in Winston-Salem will be closed through the weekend to repair a crack found in a temporary bridge.
The right lane was closed around 2 p.m. Friday after a small crack was found on the metal temporary bridge over Liberty Street, NCDOT officials said.
NCDOT officials said motorists should expect delays, especially during rush hour. The lane should reopen by the morning rush hour on Monday, weather permitting.
The crack was located on a part of the bridge that won’t compromise its ability to support traffic, NCDOT officials said.
However, NCDOT officials said they decided to make repairs now in the name of safety.
The temporary bridge was installed in 2010 as part of a project to replace the Liberty Street bridges both northbound and southbound.
